There are often times when life is a struggle,   it’s hard to keep our heads above water. It is difficult to stop, to take a pause in our busy lives,  and even more difficult to seek out support,  we are so used to holding it all together.    Counselling or Psychotherapy can be a place where you take some time for yourself,  where you can begin to understand yourself, and what is going on in your life.   It can be an opportunity to work through particular issues or difficulties. Or it could be  a time to find out how to make deeper and more meaningful connections both with yourself and with others in this crazy world we live in.

Core Process Psychotherapy is one of the original mindfulness-based psychotherapy trainings, developed in the early 80’s by Maura and Franklyn Sills of the Karuna Institute. It combines western theories of personality formation with the profound wisdom and insight into the human condition and the nature and causes of suffering from Buddhist traditions.

This style of therapy rests on the belief in the inherent health and goodness that lies at our core, underneath all of our patterned and not-so-healthy behaviours. Slowing down and bringing awareness to these old patterns as they arise, can help us to become curious about our reactions, and then there is the possibility of doing something different.

I hold an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute, and am fully insured, and accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapy. My private practice is in North Oxfordshire, specialising in working with trauma and particularly very early trauma.

I have worked as therapist and supervisor at Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre, and run supervision groups for Scottish Borders Rape Crisis, Shetland Rape Crisis, and for Domestic Violence Advocates with Safer Communities in Scotland.

Although I prefer to work face-to-face, if this is not possible, I also offer sessions online.

  • It is possible to do effective work in the short-term, however it is really making a longer-term commitment to yourself that can offer real change.

  • Feelings of safety develop within the relationship over time, enabling a deepening in the sharing and understanding of experience.

  • Please contact me to book an initial session, to find out if we are a good fit to work together.
